Smiling babies, smiling grandmothers, smiling children, smiling parents, even smiling dogs! Here at the Wacom Community, we are very grateful for the opportunity to take a look at all of your happy faces. Unfortunately, we have only two awards to give away this time, but what beautiful photos they are! Congratulations!

Philippines' Dennis Panlilo took the opposite approach with "The smile of youth" diffusing the photo's center to allow your eyes to wander through the multitude of smiling faces as if you were wandering through a lively crowd at a party or festival. His photo manipulation technique seamlessly blends three photos together, framed by a dark border that matches the subjects'
black clothing. We like how the effect creates two tones of skin and clothing from the color photo, but most of all, we like looking through all the smiling faces!

PeterH from Australia's "Nyssa" in the Digital Photo category won us over with its soft, almost furry, lighting. We liked the smooth, unique curves of Nyssa's lips forming an elegance that complements and contrasts the youth of her face. Then there is her hand pointing to beyond the frame, hinting with a wonder made playful by her smile, her slightly sleepy eyes. We also liked the composition of the photo; centered on the smile, it funnels your line of sight making you realize that the subject of the photo is not Nyssa herself, but rather her beautiful smile. Great work! |
